Christian Concepts in Real Life.
I am beautiful in every single way
It can be hard trying to uphold the world’s standard of beauty. In my experience, sometimes the world’s standard seems unattainable so you become apathetic instead. God isn’t just concerned about your spirit and soul, but how you view yourself, your outward appearance and how you carry yourself.
Sermon Series Suggestion: Cuffing Season
This week’s suggestion is a sermon series from Transformation Church called Cuffing Season. This is a deliverance series that touches subjects, such as complacency, gluttony, comparison and much more.
If you trust in [Him], [He] can be there for anything you need
Questions of if you’re capable can arise when it's time to start a new job. Recently, I had to learn that God will never bless you with a new job that He will not qualify you for
Sermon Suggestion: Nothing Left to Lose
I know what it’s like to make a mistake and feel as though it is always looming over you. Pastor Sarah Jakes Roberts’ sermon, “Nothing Left to Lose” reminds us all that God still loves us and God can still use us. Just like Eve, “even though [the devil] bruised [our] heels, he [can’t] take [us] out of the game.”
Let’s Talk
We’ve all heard that “Communication is key,” but if you’re like me, sometimes you try to avoid uncomfortable communication. However, due to lack of communication, events did not always end pleasantly. Through scripture, I began to realize that even our all-knowing God requires communication. Because of that, I am making an effort to be more communicative. You should join me!
Podcast Episode Suggestion: It’s About the Journey, Not the Destination
This week, I suggest that you listen to the Fearfully and Wonderfully Made podcast’s episode, “It’s About the Journey, Not the Destination.” In this episode, Minister Mekia and I discuss how life is a journey and the four stages that everyone goes through on their journey: discovery, discipline, detriment and destination. Check out this podcast episode and be encouraged that you are not alone on your sanctification journey.
I’d catch a grenade for you
There's a saying that says, "Relationships are about give and take." In translation, that means relationships require reciprocity. If our relationship with God is reciprocal, then why can't we expect the same from our other relationships?
I ain’t got nothin’ but love for ya
The world can be enticing. Being able to fit in with others usually doesn't include God. Some Christians try to have their cake and eat it too. From Sunday evening - Saturday, their lives are in opposite of what they reflect on Sunday Morning. I realized that it's not just important to love God on Sunday morning, but everyday.
Podcast Episode Suggestion: Afraid to Feel
Being afraid to feel and inability to confront my emotions was a constant theme in my life. I looked at crying and being emotional as a weakness. Through my spiritual journey, I am learning that there is freedom in acknowledging and expressing your emotions. Debra Fileta's "Afraid to Feel" episode talks about the beauty in expressing your feelings.
Podcast Suggestion: Fearfully and Wonderfully Made
Here’s this week’s suggestion: my best friend and sister’s podcast, Fearfully and Wonderfully Made (FWM)! Mekia Jae is a minister who focuses on the relational aspect of Christianity while letting her goofball side shine through. If you’re looking for a minister to give you the hard truth, but in a loving way, FWM Podcast is definitely for you!
Sermon Suggestion: Nurturing Your Inner Child X Sarah Jakes Roberts
Many of my blog posts will either reference or mention the traumas of my inner child and how it has affected my life. Sarah Jakes Roberts preaches an amazing sermon about nurturing your inner child. You should watch!
Treat me like I treat Me
What is self-love and self-care? I have discovered that it is the same love and care that you would give to others, but to yourself. I’m on a journey to love and treat myself better. You should join me!
Because I’m Happy
Being happy is a choice. This is especially true when it comes to your career. I know it’s hard since the coworkers are messy, the boss is mean and the pay isn’t great. What I learned is find ways to become content/happy. What you’re complaining about is a blessing someone is dreaming about.
I’m different, Yeah, I’m different
With the constant stories, posts and videos of peers being lit with friends while it seems you are stuck at the house, forced to be bored, it is easy to understand why you could become upset, sad and angry. But God is setting you apart for a reason. I hope this blog post can give those struggling with being set apart hope and encouragement.
The first cut is the deepest
First loves. They are so exciting and magical, but for some people, they are the most heartbreaking. Trauma can rear its ugly head from a number of situations, including a first heartbreak. Let me be the one to tell you. Yes, you may still be hurt from your FIRST heartbreak. Yes, it’s ok to admit it. Lastly, yes, it’s time to heal from it.
Back in the days when I was young, I’m not a kid anymore
Welcome to my first blog post! This blog highlights some of the major events that happened in my life that has led me on this Christian journey. The major lesson of this post is: There is no right way of becoming a better Christian. The best thing you can do is start.
