Podcast Episode Suggestion: Afraid to Feel

Hello lovelies!

Pastor Mike Todd shared a post, not too long ago, that he was a guest speaker on a podcast. I decided to check it out. The episode is about Pastor Mike Todd’s revelation journey of recognizing and acknowledging his feelings.

I enjoyed the podcast episode because it further emphasized my revelation that it is ok to feel. I am an extremely emotional person. I’ve been crying at movies since I can remember and I would even cry because my emotions would be on overdrive because it was gloomy outside. As I grew older, I realized that some people would use this as an advantage or make fun of me for it. Therefore, I started seeing my emotions as a weakness. I would cover and mask my feelings instead of embracing them. As I have mentioned and will probably continue to mention is that hiding my emotions have led to DISASTROUS events.

The more I strive to be open with God and family and friends, the more I have to face my feelings – both current and old. In that, I am finding beauty in living my truth and in being my truth, which is a similar statement that Pastor Mike Todd made in the podcast.

Moreover, Debra Fileta, the host of the podcast, made a statement that I thought was very impactful. She said, “If you don’t allow yourself to get to the depth of the pain, you also won’t allow yourself to get to the depth of the joy and the blessing and the intimacy and the connection.”

I must admit, I have felt freer since being open about my feelings and facing issues I thought were buried.
