You’re God’s Valentine
Happy Valentine’s Day, Lovelies!
During college, Valentine’s Day was a dreaded day. I didn’t have a boyfriend or anyone who would make Valentine’s Day special. One year, I decided to get dressed up and take myself out on a date to the movies, but I was an emotional wreck and ended up seeing the wrong movie. (In hindsight, that was a blessing because being emotional and watching a Nicholas Sparks movie on top of that is never a good move for me. I definitely needed to see the latest Die Hard lol. – The word in there is He may not give you what you want but He’ll give you want you need!) The following year, I decided to do the same thing and this time, my spirits were higher. Over the years, I have either celebrated Valentine’s Day by myself or with my friends (Galentine’s Day). This year, my best friend and I traveled to Atlanta, tried new restaurants, went to Top Golf, visited a church and of course, we hit up the bookstore.
For anyone who may be feeling alone and unloved on Valentine’s Day and end up reading this blog post, I’m here to remind you that you do have a Valentine - and it’s God. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (NLT) says: “Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, it always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.”
God is that love. He’s patient with us and He’s kind to us. He gives us free will and He always welcomes us back with open arms.
Instead of being upset this Valentine’s Day because you do not have anyone, rejoice in the fact that God loves you and He cares for you. Use this day and get closer to Him. Use this day as a self-care day. Take yourself out, buy yourself a[n] (affordable) gift (let’s not get crazy lol), order take out and watch your favorite movies or whatever will make your soul happy and reconnect with yourself and with God.
