You’re Still In The Game
I’m not the biggest sports fan, but I do enjoy watching major games like the Playoffs, the Super Bowl and the Finals. Despite this fact, sometimes God likes to give me revelations through sports metaphors. Lately, I have been going through spiritual warfare over my desire to restart my side business. Thoughts like “You aren’t as creative as such and such,” “You aren’t capable,” “This is a waste of time,” “No one will hire you” and more have been stirring in my mind. For the most part, I remind myself of words that were spoken over me and blast songs from my Faith playlist to keep me encouraged. However, I’ll admit that sometimes, for a few minutes, I give in to those thoughts. I think about quitting. One of those moments happened one Sunday morning before I got up to get ready for church. I admitted to God that I felt inadequate and insecure about this venture. God spoke to me and said, “Everybody isn’t Steph Curry, but they’re still in the NBA.”
Lightbulb!
Over the years, I’ve heard about and watched great players who never reached the fame and stardom of stars like Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Lebron James and Steph Curry, but that doesn’t diminish their contribution to the game. It doesn’t mean that they aren’t great in their own right. It doesn’t even mean they aren’t getting paid because they are!
God made us all unique and valuable. He gifted each of us with different gifts. He has equipped us to work in different sectors of this world. Our job is to seek Him and ask Him what we should do and when He answers, we need to remember that He has already equipped us. We need to remember that we aren’t successful on our own might, but it is because God is the one who provides the increase.
Don’t get discouraged because you may not play like, talk like, act like another person. Act like YOU because God has already anointed you for the people, customers and friends He has assigned to your life. 2 Corinthians 3:5 (NLT) says, “It is not that we think we are qualified to do anything on our own. Our qualification comes from God.”
