Go To Work

If you haven’t noticed by now, I am a dreamer and I am a person who has many different interests. One day a few months ago, I was thinking about how I want to learn how to play tennis. Immediately, I imagined myself serving the ball and becoming an amateur Serena Williams. After a short while of daydreaming, I brought myself to reality and knew that my vision wasn’t likely. Prior to this daydream, I realized that I have a habit of thinking I can do and accomplish certain tasks, but the reality is farthest from the ideal. I looked up (something I tend to do when I’m reflecting and talking to God) and asked, “This is my problem isn’t it? I’m always thinking I can do things I can’t.” Almost immediately, I heard God respond, “No, your problem is you don’t ever want to do the work to get you to the vision you see.”

Gut punch. (I’m not going to lie. Some tears formed.)

I realized God was right. Throughout my life, there were several things I wanted to do or had an interest in doing, but because I didn’t succeed in the way I wanted to or because I didn’t get praise from others the way I wanted, I quit. I wanted to cry for all the passions and hobbies I might have been decent at if I would’ve just kept trying.

James 2:26 says: “Faith without works is dead.”

I’m here to remind everyone reading this post and myself that you can NEVER accomplish the vision of yourself you see if you never apply the faith, if you don’t keep trying even though it seems you failed. Some people are naturally talented in certain areas, but some people also reach notoriety because they tried until they got it right.

Therefore, my encouragement for you on today is:

Whatever you want to accomplish, keep working until your vision comes into fruition.
