Sermon Suggestion: “Single and Secure”

One of my favorite books of the Bible is Ruth. The book of Ruth follows a young, widowed woman named Ruth who decides to leave behind her homeland, Moab, to accompany her deceased husband’s mother to Judah where she would work and serve God. To support the two of them, Ruth traveled to a field to glean for food so she and her mother-in-law could eat. She happened to be working on Boaz’s field. Boaz noticed Ruth and not only provided food and water, but protection as well. Sometime later, Ruth’s mother-in-law convinced her to go lay at Boaz’s feet, which was the catalyst for Ruth and Boaz marrying.

If you have ever heard the phrase, “Love will find you when you least expect it,” the book of Ruth showcases this principle. Ruth was simply trying to provide for her mother-in-law and herself. She wasn’t thinking about a man or finding love.

In Pastor Rich Wilkerson Jr.’s sermon, “Single and Secure,” Pastor Rich points out this fact about Ruth. He emphasizes that single people should take advantage of the season that they are in. Moreover, he preaches a point that “when you turn up, things turn out,” as shown by Ruth getting married after meeting her husband while working on his property.

This sermon is a great reminder to value and to grow in our preparation season.
