Sermon Suggestion: Leaving Lack

Growing up, I always heard of the importance of time management. One of my high school teachers suggested and offered resources to assist in this particular area. However, being the hardheaded kid I was, I completely ignored it. I worked good under pressure so procrastination, stress and I were best friends. As I grow and mature and begin to get a deeper relationship with God, I am realizing that time management is biblical.

In fact, it is a subcategory of stewardship, which is a major biblical principle.

What is stewardship? According to the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary, it is “the conducting, supervising, or managing of something, especially: the careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one’s care.”

Stewardship is basically the successful management over anything and everything that God has blessed you with, including money. Failure to properly steward your time, money and other resources oftentimes results in lack. Lack, then in return, results in stress, disrupted peace and a plethora of many other negative emotions.

Pastor Darius McClure of Rock City Church in Birmingham, AL preaches on ways we get into lack, but most importantly, how to overcome lack in his message, “Leaving Lack.”

I highly recommend this sermon if you need inspiration and help to overcome the lacking areas in your life! Also, check out my book suggestion on Beyond Blessed to receive more resources on stewardship.
