Podcast Episode(s) Suggestion: How to Start a Budget
As I expressed in Monday’s blog, I would much rather travel and go to concerts than save money. It’s not that I can’t make budgets; I can, but I can’t always adhere to them. It’s like as soon as I make one, an expense amount increases or something comes up and I have to rearrange. Most of the time, I end up saying forget it, which has led me on the path that I was on in You Only Live Once (YOLO). However, God humbled me and showed me that it is important to save. I realized I can’t expect God to bless me with more if I am not even taking care of the blessings he has given me now. It’s like going to your mom for new white sneakers when you haven’t taken care of the last three pair that she bought you. More than likely, the answer will be a hard, “NO!” As I have said before, God is a parent and just like any good parent, He gives as well as disciplines.
On this journey of learning more about finances, budgeting, etc., I have become increasingly frustrated with the fact that I couldn’t find resources that used the Bible to discuss how to budget. Just like always, God heard my prayer and encouraged me to sign up for the free trial of Pastor Sarah Jakes Roberts’ Woman Evolve TV where I watched a podcast interview with Caline Newton called Strategy For Information. In this podcast, she hits on a few good strategies on how to become more financially stable. Afterwards, I visited YouTube and saw that Woman Evolve posted a throwback podcast episode called “W.E. TV Throwback: Budgeting Class X Peggy Buck” (WON’T HE DO IT!)
In this video, Ms. Peggy Buck explains how to create a budget and includes how to incorporate your tithes and offerings into the budget. (But wait…there’s more.) On the Woman Evolve tv channel, there are four additional videos starring Ms. Peggy Buck where she breaks down more principles, answers budgeting questions and more! You can sign up for the Woman Evolve TV Channel for free for the first 7 days.
So, my lovelies, let’s grab a pen and paper and let’s get our budgets to work!
