Planting Good Seed

The Bible uses the metaphor of planting in numerous scriptures. Galatians 6:7 (NLT) says: “Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant.” This can be applied to a variety of different areas in life: career, relationships (with God and with humans), finances, heath and more. For instance, if I continuously eat junk food and load up on carbs and never work out, what will happen? I’ll gain weight. (Sidebar: I rebuke that big back spirit in Jesus’ name!) Similarly, if you never do your best at your job, more than likely you will not see the raise and promotion you seek. If you do not start being diligent with your money now, you will have a harder time managing your money later. If you don’t sacrifice and spend time with God or your significant other now, the relationship won’t be as strong later.

Every action you make today can and will affect your tomorrow. Paraphrasing here, but there was a post I saw a few years ago that said whether or not you go to school now, you will still be older in four years so you might as well be productive with that time. In Ecclesiastes, God says there is a time for everything. It is possible to be in different seasons in different areas in your life: your finances could be in the sowing phase while your ministry could be in the harvesting phase. Regardless, remember that life is cyclical. Once you reach a harvest phase, you will have to replant eventually. Seek God about the length of time you should be in each season. Moreover, time is precious. Many rich people view time as the biggest resource because money can come and go, but you can never get time back.

My advice: be intentional with your time; be purposeful with your time. If that means going back to school, go back to school. If that means resting from school or in between entrepreneurial endeavors for mental stability, then rest. Just make sure it aligns with what God wants for you in this season because a plan without God will NEVER succeed.

Therefore, let’s make sure you are planting good seed so you can reap a good harvest. (Planting = God’s plan + work + purpose + intentionality = a bountiful harvest).
