Have Faith for Yourself
Here’s a fun fact about me in case you haven’t picked in up by now: my head is FULL of whimsical and storybook ideas. If you tell me you like to travel, my head will create a story where you meet the love of your life on an airplane while you’re traveling to the city he/she resides in. He/she offers to show you around, you accept and VIOLÀ, a beautiful love story. Not only will I stand TEN TOES DOWN on this dream for you, but I’ll also even pray to God that if it’s in His will, that scenario will come to pass. What I’m trying to say is I have crazy faith. I believe God can do beautiful, wonderful, miraculous things – for other people.
When it comes to myself…I struggle. It’s like I’ll believe it, but I’ve had my hopes up and crushed before, so in my attempt to “humble” myself, I do the opposite of what I do for others. There were times where I would speak against myself, not realizing that there really is power of life and death in the tongue (Proverbs 18:21).
If I’m being honest, I don’t feel like I’m as deserving as others to receive certain blessings; I’m content with being second or third or fourth. I’m genuinely happy to see others win! In this season though, I’m challenging myself to believe in the unimaginable in my life. My best friend told me that maybe God hasn’t allowed my imagination to come true because then I’ll lean on my own knowledge instead of Him. She also told me that God is saying that I don’t need to know everything. Instead of feeling defeated, I’ll take this word and believe that if my imagination is already humongous, then God can and will give me a double portion (Isaiah 61:7).
As I write to you, I am also writing to myself. You are worthy. You are deserving. If He’ll leave the 99 for the 1, He definitely cares about you. Remember, Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) says: “For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’”
Look at what God has done for you thus far. If He did it before, He can do it again. Love and have faith in yourself as you love and have faith for others.
