Sermon Suggestion: “Asking for a Friend: 4 Secrets of a Secure Woman”
I remember when I was in high school, I told my mom that I never wore two revealing clothing items together. For instance, if I wore a tube top, I wore jeans or if I wore shorts, I wore a t-shirt. My mom called me a prude for it so it wasn’t something that was instilled in me as a child, it was just what I was comfortable in wearing. Fast-forward to college, my favorite outfits consisted of short shorts and tube tops. The reason behind the change was to get attention from guys. I allowed culture and my surroundings to convince me that I wasn’t good enough as I was and that I should conform to how the world around me dressed, acted and talked. For years, I tried being the girl that the world convinced me I should be, but I was only left feeling more broken and damaged than before.
Pastor Rich Wilkerson Jr. has a sermon called “Asking for a Friend: 4 Secrets of a Secure Woman” that I wished I would have heard during my college days. Not only does he provide women with 4 ways to become or remain a secure woman, he reminds us that we shouldn’t lower our standards and that we are enough as we are.
As we transform our single season into our preparation season, let’s remind ourselves that we are enough, not to lower our values and to walk boldly as the Women of God that God has called us to be.
