Every Day Should Be Like Sunday
I used to wonder what people meant by every day should be like Sunday. I would think, “I can’t read the Word all day. I can’t worship all day. I have to work!”
However, as my relationship with God grows, I realized that while reading the Word, worshipping and praying is important, that isn’t what He means. God knows you have to work. He was the One who commanded Adam to work. He knows family time and self-care is important. Who do you think set the standard!
What that statement means is that God wants to be in partnership with you. He wants to talk with you throughout the day. He wants you to consult with Him about what to watch, what to wear, etc. He wants you to worship Him by fellowshipping with friends and family in a righteous way. He wants you to take care of your temple by eating right and getting enough sleep. Moreover, He wants you to exude His character: kindness, mercy, forgiveness, etc. He wants us to speak pleasantly to one another. Basically, the way we act in the church should be the same as the way we act outside of the church.
1 Corinthians 10:31 (NLT) says: “So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
